Changing my identity and my life for the better

I had been feeling stuck and just coasting through life for some time and I knew I had to change something. I didn’t want to live life just getting by, and this challenge has shown me how I can transform my good life, into something truly amazing, by stepping into my future selves’ shoes, today and every day.

I found the modules so helpful and inspiring, and watching the third module, connecting with and thanking my future self was so inspiring it brought me to tears. Now I know this version of myself exists and that I can turn my visions into reality, that I just need to take the steps forward to embrace it with aligned action and rewrite my story to reflect my new identify.

I have used the skills and vision derived from this challenge to clarify my career goals, and subsequently apply for 2 (!!!) new roles at work, which I have since been awarded, and truly feel like I’m now stepping into my future self.

I have been focusing on healthy habits and have committed to drinking 3L+ and increasing my activity levels, and begun completing a couch to 5K(one week down, it’s looking tough but doable) and I know I can build on this in the future. Now that I am nourishing myself properly from the inside out, I feel healthy, proud and committed, and for the first time in my life, not obsessed with the scales- although the 1.5kg drop has been nice too!

I have been trying to stay off my phone during the day, and especially at night, and have instead been enjoying simple every day pleasures with my children and reading more.

The biggest win for me has been identifying and working on my limiting beliefs, and imposter syndrome, I know this continues to be a work in progress, and I have been far from perfect in this challenge but I now know I am not the mean things I tell myself, they don’t serve a purpose and I continue to shift my identity to something gentler, loving and more positive.

fyc: holding the vision and locking in

i turned 30 just a couple days after the challenge ended. "and as I actually reach this milestone? I have no receipts to show for anything I did in my twenties or even teen years. yes I studied, yes I went to university and studied some more, and graduated, and then got a job that didn't give me much energy to be intentional for myself. so now when I look back on the years that have passed on before this one, I only have dark circles the size of craters, and the kid inside has been hiding behind tv shows and binge-ing on snacks or what you'd say 'junk food' but lets not say that for the sake of triggering a worse relationship with food than I already have."
this was me a few weeks ago i'd say, and then I came across bec's announcement to start a 3rd round of the fyc; and while I did want to partake since the earlier rounds I hadn't been able to; and now seemed like the best time to.

at the beginning of the year i had to quit my job and move w my dad and my brother, and i still have time while my irish medical license is processing, so i have been unemployed since then. so i was managing chores around the house and when i'd have time for myself, i'd just binge watch a tv show and have an irregular sleep cycle. right around the time the challenge started the rest of my family also moved here, so it's also been a busy time.

but bec's challenge gave me a chance to take a deep dive into who future me could be, and show up for that vision, every day, in the smallest aligned actions. my keystone habit in the first week of the challenge was to make my bed every day, and after that i'd change, and be able to step out for a walk, and later hit the gym as well (i'd been paying for the membership for the past two months but been too overwhelmed to actually go back). next week's routine revamp had to be my nighttime routine, so I chose to read before bed and instead of binge-watch a tv show, really savour the wind down before clocking out for the day, and even tried incorporating skincare (we're still getting there). for the vision boarding exercise, I'd done a visualisation memo/vn. and week 4 I set myself the goal of locking in for the gym and doing a 12 week focused workout plan.

the realisation that future me isn't in the distant future, but in the now, because I choose to show up for her everyday is what's been life-changing; and incorporating it step by step w some accountability as well, has been really helpful to keep steady at it, instead of getting overwhelmed because I added everything all at once. thank you bec and the team for creating this challenge.

Four weeks that changed my every day

I started this challenge just after losing my grandma, at a time when I needed more softness, structure, and a way to feel like myself again. I wasn’t looking to change everything overnight - I wanted to build small, intentional habits that aligned with the goals I want to achieve.

Over the last four weeks, those habits have become part of my day-to-day life. I’ve made time for evening movement, even if it was just a short walk or stretch. I’ve added reading or listening to an audiobook into my evenings, which has been a calm reset at the end of the day. I’ve taken real time with my self-care - slowing down with my skincare, tidying my space, journaling, and setting out clothes for the next day. My night routine has gone from something I rushed through to something I genuinely look forward to.

Even while overseas, I stayed committed to these habits, which has built a deeper trust in myself and proved that I can stick with what matters anywhere. I’m finishing this challenge with more self-trust, more clarity, and more momentum than I had four weeks ago. From here, I’ll keep building on these habits, layering in new ones that support my energy, mindset, and long-term goals. This is the reset I needed, and this challenge has reminded me that the little things add up - and I’m excited to keep going, knowing this is just the start of becoming my best future self 🤍

    From Fear to Future

Being born with life limiting conditions and having been diagnosed with a terminal illness aged 16 left me feeling too scared to look too far into my future.
Feeling lost within my illness and disability not completing the milestones a normal person would by my age.
As my 30th Birthday looms closer I thought enough was enough, I needed to throw myself fully ,whole heartedly into a challenge, to change my way of thinking.

This is where you and your challenge comes in.
Could I daydream, could I look at accomplishing things I haven’t ever dreamed.
Your programme of looking forward and writing down specifically who my future self is, what characteristics do I have and really get into the crux of my true future self.

Having completed the challenges and workbook I now have a visual road map on how I can evolve into my future self by changing habits and routines that don’t serve me.
I’ve struggled with self confidence and self esteem but this challenge has helped me by identifying all the good qualities I have that I now draw on becoming a stronger more confident women.
Having BIG FUTURE GOALS is a first for me.
The 4 weeks has given me the opportunity to finally do the hardest thing that I have avoided, to look inward which is the first step to see my future.

Before this challenge I would have never have dreamed of public speaking but after setting that first audacious goal in the last week I have been asked to speak at a conference about my life experiences!
It’s amazing once you put something out in the universe how it speaks it into existence.
I am still scared and anxious about this opportunity but I have learned without doing the hard things how am I meant to grow and change into to an even better person. I’m excited to be able to keep pushing boundaries to become my future self.

My journey to future me ✨🦋🤍

I’m a Mumma of an almost 2 year old and before the challenge, I had wound up in a state of deep anxiety that I just couldn’t shake. I’d been giving so much of myself to everyone else, that I forgot to pour back into my own cup. It left me restless, frustrated, overwhelmed and exhausted. I have always loved journalling, and it always helps me find my way back to myself again so I purchased Bec’s ‘Future You’ Journal Bundle and joined Round 3 of the ‘Future You’ challenge.

I’m usually one to start something, but never finish because, as I’m sure many other Mumma’s can relate to, life is full in all the best ways 🤍 and it can be a easy to fall off the wagon when you’re running on fumes of coffee and toddler crumbs. The ‘Future You’ challenge was the perfect amount of structure and support, and I committed to showing myself some tlc over the 4 weeks which I am so proud of. Bec’s modules made it so easy & fun to start on track and I loved reflecting on my week on Sunday evenings and looking back on how I’d shown up for myself when posting my accountability check ins.

At the beginning of the challenge, I started training for a 5km run, and whilst it seems like a small shift, I have stuck to my training plan and stayed consistent in showing up for every run I said I would do… proving to myself that I can do, and be whoever I set my heart to & rewriting some deep childhood stories I told myself. ‘Future’ me is so proud of ‘Past’ me that she basically cries every time I finish a run.

In week 2, as part of the challenge, I “revamped” my morning routine & started waking up before my son to give back to myself & start the day as the version of me who puts herself first and honestly, it has made the biggest difference to my mental health. I feel lighter, more focused and more present throughout my days and I have so much more to give my little man, which is the biggest blessing 🥹. It just goes to show that the ‘Future You’ theory works and you really can make the vision become a reality by taking aligned action each day.

When I found myself staring down a tunnel, not being able to see the light at the end, the ‘Future You’ challenge gave me something to focus on, it gave me permission to put myself first and a space to reflect on the stories I was telling myself that were getting in the way of being the best version of my ‘Future Self’ that I could be. I attribute the shift that finally helped me start feeling myself again, to this challenge and i’ll never be able to live without my ‘Future You’ journal again.

This challenge helped my get my sparkle back and I can’t week to meet the next version of “Future Me” ✨🦋🤍.
